Commissioner for Older People for Northern Ireland: Crime and Justice: The Experience of Older People in Northern Ireland

For this research, I wanted to hear the views of older people who have unfortunately been victims of crime, to better understand the impact it had on them, their experience of reporting that crime and their journey through the different parts of the criminal justice system

This study consisted of focus groups and interviews with older people in Northern Ireland as well as with the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), Public Prosecution Service (PPS) and Victim Support NI. It examined the impact of crime, not just on the older victims but their families too, as well the response of the criminal justice system.
